LUT Lahti campus is located in the Niemi district, three kilometres from the city centre.

When coming from Helsinki region or elsewhere in Finland you can use the bus connections to Lahti which are operated by different companies. You can look at the different connections and timetables from Matkahuolto's website, where you can also book your ticket.

The busses stop at Lahti Travel Centre.

Local bus number 1 runs between the LUT Lahti campus and the Lahti Travel Centre (train and bus station), bus stop A.

When coming from Helsinki you can use the long-distance and/or commuter trains to get to Lahti.

If you come from the Helsinki Airport, you can take the airport train (I and P commuter trains) and change trains in Tikkurila station to get to Lahti.

Z commuter train travels all the way to Lahti from the Helsinki Central station as well as some of the long-distance trains. These trains all stop also at Pasila and Tikkurila stations.

The train stations address in Lahti is Mannerheiminkatu 15. The train station is part of Lahti Travel Centre.

VR's long distance and commuter trains stop at the Lahti Travel Centre, which is approximately 4 km from the LUT Lahti campus.

Visitors can park at the guest parking spaces in the P1 area by informing the registration number and time of stay in the lobby. The lobby registers the registration number in to the system (for students and staff members parking in the P1 area is subject to payment).

If the visitor parking spaces are full, guests have the opportunity to park on unmarked areas in the P1 area. The registration number is reported to the lobby, which registers it in to the system.

E-parking app is used in other parking areas. Download the e-parking app on your phone from the Play Store or App Store (eParkingSuomi). You can also sign a parking contract online at the e-parking website. New user instructions can be found at https://eparking.fi/en/newuser.

What to wear in Finnish weather?

The temperature in Lahti during during February is typically between -3 and -11 degrees celcius. Here are a few things to take into consideration regarding clothing in the Finnish weather:

Prefer wool or synthetic fibers. Cotton will feel cold.
Bring layers. If it is colder outside, you can put more clothes on, and less if warmer. Layered clothing could mean, for example, warm underpants or leggings and wider pants on top.
Warm accessories. Bring a warm scarf, gloves, and a hat (a beanie or similar would be preferable).
Waterproof (enough) shoes. There can be snow, slush, or water on the ground, so prevent your socks from becoming wet. Woolen socks are better to keep you warm even if wet. Note that the roads can be slippery, so we advise to have shoes with a good grip (material and pattern). If it is very cold, having shoes that are a little large are better in keeping you warm, and for layering socks.
Reflective wear. Especially during the evenings, we highly recommend using clothes and/or accessories which have a reflective surface so that you remain visible, for example for the drivers in the dark. You can buy a reflector for a few euros in many stores in Finland.
