LUT University
Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT, or LUT University , was founded in 1969. Today, our international community is composed of approximately 7 500 students and experts engaged in scientific research and academic education. The university has two main campuses, one in Lappeenranta and one in Lahti. LUT has also research activities in cities of Mikkeli and Kouvola.
Main areas of research in LUT focuses seeking scientific solutions for clean energy, water, and air. Research in these areas is done in our three Schools, School of Business and Management, School of Energy Systems, and School of Engineering Science. LUT’s research actions in these fields have been internationally recognised and LUT has been ranked world’s ninth best university for climate action.

Lappeenranta
Lappeenranta is located north-east of Helsinki, about 220 km away, by the lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland.
Lappeenranta has been chosen as the climate capital of Finland twice. Lappeenranta is also one of the greenest cities in Europe and has won the European Green Leaf Award in 2021.

How to get here:
Easiest way to reach Lappeenranta from Helsinki Airport is by train. A local commuter train leaves from airport every 10 minutes, which connects in Tikkurila station in city of Vantaa directly to Lappeenranta. The train ride is in total about 2 hours.
On the EEM week (5.6.–11.6.), there are possible track work between Helsinki and Lappeenranta. Some of the trains are replaced with a bus connection. Check the latest information from the train company VR's website.
There are also limited direct flight options to the Lappeenranta airport.
Getting to the city centre from the train station is easiest by bus. Bus line 5 leaves from Lappeenranta train station to the city centre every 30 minutes. It is also possible to walk to the city centre from the train station, which is about 1 km from the city centre. The bus stop in the city centre is called “Keskusta”.
The LUT campus and the conference venue is located 6km west of the city centre. There are two bus line between city centre and the LUT campus, lines 1 and 5, which ensure very easy travel between the city centre and the campus. The bus stop at the campus is called “LUT-Yliopisto”.
