The first Curious People Alumni Webinar of this academic year focuses on the electrification of the energy system with green electricity. In this energy transition, series produced and constantly improving technology will replace the use of fossil fuels. In the presentation, both the possibilities and roles of direct electrification and power-to-x fuels to substitute the use of fossil fuels will be discussed.
Jero Ahola is the professor in energy efficiency of electrically driven systems at LUT. His research interests are in water electrolysis, power-to-x, solar PV, and pumping systems. He is the head of the multidisciplinary LUT GREENRENEW research platform, an advisor and a founder in several science-based start-ups, such as Solar Foods, Elstor, and Afstor, and a board member of Gasgrid Finland. Jero Ahola was nominated as the Innovation Professor of the Year 2022 in Finland.
