International commitments to sustainable development
We promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through campus life, research, education and stakeholder work. LUT is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals as recognized by our numerous international commitments.
Networks reinforce the work in sustainable development
The networks reinforce the universities' work in sustainable development by sharing best practice for common needs. Networks also act as a channel for collaboration and the dissemination of information.
Nordic Sustainable Campus Network – NSCN
Nordic Sustainable Campus Network (NSCN) commits its partner universities, their managers and the universities' stakeholder groups to support sustainable development in Nordic universities. The NSCN also improvs the visibility of Nordic countries in worldwide networks such as ISCN (International Sustainable Campus Network).
International Sustainable Campus Network – ISCN
The ISCN operating model has been developed to support universities in setting development objectives for sustainable campuses and reporting as well as capacity building. The model is based on learning on campus and the continuous improvement of innovation.
The network acts as a global forum which promotes the exchange of ideas, dissemination of information and the sharing of best practices in the different areas of sustainable development between leading institutions of higher education, universities and companies. The members of the network represent top level higher education institutions and universities from 14 different countries about the world: America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
ISCN works in cooperation with The Global University Leaders Forum (GULF). GULF is an international coalition maintained by the World Economic Forum, and it is made up of experts from the world's leading universities and representatives from various organisations and research institutes.
Principles for Responsible Management Education – PRME
LUT has also joined the United Nations' (UN) Principles for Responsible Management Education network. The network includes over 500 business schools and management-related academic institutions from over 80 countries across the world.
