Energy Day event in Brussels – Vision for Europe’s future energy system
LUT University's Energy Day event in Brussels
Clean energy, water and air are life-giving resources for which we seek new solutions with our expertise in technology, business and social sciences. Since 2016 LUT University Trailblazers have contributed to the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) policy dialogue with research-based solutions.
The soon to be carbon negative LUT University will now present its activities linked to the contribution to EU science advice, industry insights, and examples of LUT-led, EU-wide research and innovation (R&I) to support the European energy transition. The EU context for the event comes most urgently with the REPowerEU context.
Vision for Europe’s future energy system
Tuesday 27 September 2022 at 16:00 - 18:00
Programme 27 September 2022
16.00 LUT RePowering EU – opening words
Juha-Matti Saksa, Rector, LUT University
16.10 Keynote: Vision for Europe’s future energy system in RePowerEU context
Petteri Laaksonen, Research Director, LUT University, Member of EASAC “Future of Gas” group
Dr Laaksonen is set to paint a sustainable vision of energy system after a dark winter. Future European societies will be very different and based on renewable energy. Both the time span and the extent of the required chance remain yet difficult to imagine. This said, strategic vision for EU energy systems based on renewables remains both promising and challenging, but entirely doable.
