Teivo Teivainen is Professor of World Politics at the University of Helsinki, previously also Head of Political Science Department and Research Director of the Center of Excellence on Global Governance. He has been visiting professor in many South and North American universities.  

His awards range from Hopkins Award of the American Sociological Association for his book Enter Economism, Exit Politics (Zed Books, 2002) to Amartya Sen Prize of Yale University for the article, coauthored with Matti Ylönen, “Politics of Intra-firm Trade” (New Political Economy, 2018). In between, he has received Academy of Finland Recognition Award, Pro Feminism Award, JV Snellman Public Information Award, and Ovet Award for advancing knowledge about Russia in Finland. In 2022, he received Outstanding Activist Scholar Award of the International Studies Association,   

He regularly appears on TV and radio programs, and his interviews range from the New York Times, Financial Times or Xinhua News to smaller media outlets in various parts of the world. 

 

This is an event organised by the Department of Social Sciences, LUT School of Engineering Sciences. It is a part of the Department Seminars.
