My main research interests are biomass conversion for energy purposes and the possibilities of the conversion processes in the pulp and paper industry. My studies have also touched power-to-gas and carbon capture technologies. Biomass conversion methods, such as gasification, torrefaction, and pyrolysis increase the possibilities of biomass use in various applications and facilitate fossil fuel replacement with renewables. Conversion products can also be refined to further bioproducts. In pulp mills, advanced methods promote improvement in material and energy efficiency and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, as well as the evolution to biorefineries.
