Advancing Water Purification: Harnessing Advanced Functional Materials and Multiscale Computational Modeling for Effective PFAS Removal in Water Utilities

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as “forever chemicals”, are a large class of thousands of synthetic chemicals which have been detected in the water bodies. The concern around the environmental persistence, bioaccumulation and toxicity of PFAS continues to rise worldwide and urgent solutions are needed to tackle PFAS pollution. In this project, we aim to develop advanced functional materials for the effective removal of PFAS from water, providing a robust treatment technology for PFAS elimination.
