The project supports SMEs in Kouvola and Kymenlaakso in managing climate change risks, particularly in the food, energy, logistics, and circular economy sectors. LUT is developing the 3R tool (resilience, restoration, regeneration) to help businesses enhance their climate resilience and identify new business opportunities. The project will create sector-specific adaptation plans and explore solutions that promote both sustainable growth and region-specific resilience strategies.
Goals
The project's main goal is to support SMEs in Kouvola and Kymenlaakso in adapting to and preparing for climate change-related risks and extreme events by identifying concrete adaptation and preparedness measures for key industries, including minimizing financial risks.
Project objectives:
- Define the 3R tool's scope through expert interviews
- Develop an analysis tool for SMEs to assess climate change preparedness, adaptation, and risk management
- Test and pilot the tool with selected companies across industry sectors
- Support business solution development alongside tool implementation
- Focus on assisting companies in climate adaptation and communicating solutions within industries
- Develop sector-specific adaptation plans for selected industries
