The VICTIS project focuses, in particular, on increasing the awareness of both industrial and ICT companies about their own environmental impacts (footprint) and increasing the companies' readiness to act to minimize their own impacts. In the project, the methods used in the previous Green ICT ecosystem in the Uusimaa project (meetings, webinars) will be used, and new approaches suitable for the operating methods of the region will be created to increase the competencies of companies. The project also utilizes previously produced green ICT supplier and producer guides, expanding them by increasing the awareness and understanding of the industry sector’s footprint and by considering the handprint of the industry. According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the ICT industry itself produces 2-5% of all emissions globally, with an emphasis on modern information societies, such as Finland. The footprint of the ICT sector is growing the fastest of all industrial sectors and is predicted to triple in a decade, according to GeSI's business-as-usual scenario. According to the Global eSustainability Initiative (GeSI), handprint effects can affect up to 20% of all emissions. Until now, the effects of handprints have not been taken into account to a greater extent, and thus the project is doing pioneering work in terms of handprint evaluation.

Goals
The project is implemented under four technical work packages. Work package 1 focuses on the investigation of the current state of the industrial sector in the target area and as a result of the work package, a Green ICT guide for industry will be produced, taking into account their current state. The work package aims to combine the needs of companies with the education that takes place at universities as example cases. Work package 2 focuses on evaluating the environmental maturity of companies in the ICT sector and writing a producer's guide that takes into account handprints. In particular, the handprint clarifying guide aims to show companies that, in addition to reducing the footprint, effects can also be achieved by utilizing the product or service in other domains. In work package 3, the purchasers of the services are taken into account, and the purchasers in the area are trained to consider green ICT in their purchases. As a result of the work package, a buyer's guide for considering handprints in ICT procurements will be produced. Regional cooperation events are organized in work package 4. The goal is to link companies in the target area to each other but also to create a connection to the national Green ICT ecosystem.
