LUT University has moved up in the QS World University Rankings 2025. LUT placed 336th among the 1 503 universities listed. Last year, LUT was 351st, which means LUT improved its ranking by 15 positions.
"Our all-time best result in the QS rankings shows that we’ve done the right things in both research and education. Our long-term work has paid off," says Jari Hämäläinen, LUT's vice rector for research and innovation.
The QS World University Rankings are one of the leading university rankings globally along with the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. QS now ranked universities based on nine indicators. The areas assessed included academic reputation, employer reputation, international citations per faculty member, the student-to-faculty ratio, the number of international students, sustainability, the international research network, and employment outcomes.
LUT continued performing particularly well in the citations per faculty member indicator: the university is in the global top 41 and is the top-ranked Finnish university. LUT also improved its position in the number of international students by 133 places, ranking second in Finland. In addition, LUT moved up 83 places in sustainability.
“High-level research, international collaboration and sustainability are at the heart of LUT’s success. We’re in the process of establishing EULiST – a joint European university – together with nine partner universities to further elevate our research, internationality, and sustainability practices,” Hämäläinen continues.
