Regular admission to LUT University’s master’s and English-language bachelor’s programmes ended on 18 January. LUT offers a total of 33 master’s and six English-language bachelor’s programmes. Rolling admission to LUT’s international programmes has been open alongside regular admission.
LUT received a record-breaking 9 197 applications to all master's and English-language bachelor's programmes; the number is the highest in LUT’s history.
"In addition to the record number of applications, we were happy to see that foreign nationals residing in Finland have found our English-language bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Moreover, there has been an increase in applications from new countries, such as the United States and Norway,” says Jaana Sandström, vice rector for education at LUT.
”Our long-term investment in LUT’s strategic degree programmes is clearly bearing fruit,” Sandström continues.
The applicants represent nearly 100 different nationalities. Most come from Finland, followed by Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria.
English-language bachelor's programmes flooded with applications
English-language bachelor's programmes attracted 1 930 applications in all. The number of applications grew a staggering 28% compared to 2022.
The most popular bachelor's programme in technology was the double degree programme Software and Systems Engineering, drawing 754 applications. The number of applications to this programme grew 55.1% compared to 2022.
LUT offers six English-language bachelor's programmes. Four of them are double degree programmes in co-operation with Hebei University of Technology, China.
More than 20 English-language master’s programmes are offered
LUT’s English-language master's programmes received a total of 5 435 applications. All in all, 18 programmes in technology and five in business were open for application.
The most popular of the technology programmes were Mechanical Engineering (469 applications), Software Engineering and Digital Transformation (433 applications) and Electrical Engineering (438 applications).
The most popular business programmes were Business Analytics (345 applications) and International Business and Entrepreneurship (285 applications).
Rolling admission to English-language programmes continues
Admission to most of the English-language master’s and all bachelor’s programmes continues in rolling admission. Rolling admission is available for students who have completed or are close to completing a previous degree outside of Finland. Rolling admission is open until 15 May 2023.
