LUT School of Business and Management (LBM) is among the world's top 200 business schools in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020 for business and economics subjects. LBM's ranking is 176-200 among a total of 632 business schools listed in the ranking.
THE is one of the world's most highly regarded university ranking lists. The areas assessed are research, citations, teaching, international outlook, and industry income. The rankings are based on 13 indicators measuring the universities' performance.
The 2020 THE subject ranking for business and economics uses the same 13 performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the subject field.
In the previous year (2019) LBM ranked 301-400 in the business & economics subject ranking. Thus, the latest ranking shows a significant leap, and is LUT's best ranking result of all times, all global rankings considered.
The performance improved significantly in research and teaching
"There are no shortcuts to excellence in business research and education. I'm really happy to see that the consistent hard work of our faculty is paying off, and that together we have been able to create a solid foundation among the best business schools worldwide", says Sami Saarenketo, dean of LBM.
LBM's special strength is citations, as in the previous ranking. The performance improved significantly also in research and teaching indicators.
LUT ranks second among a total of seven Finnish universities in this year's ranking. The 2020 ranking has expanded to include 632 universities, up from 585 last year. There are around 16 500 university-level business schools around the world.
