Biography

Prof. Lassi Roininen is a Professor in Applied Mathematics at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, a position he has held since September 2022. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the same institution from 2018-2022. He is the head of the degree programme in computational engineering, and vice-head of the Departmenf of Computational engineering at LUT School of Engineering Sciences. He is also a Docent of Applied Mathematics at the University of Oulu. His research lies in the nexus of Bayesian inverse problems, computational statistics, and probabilistic machine learning, with applications in radar and tomography for geophysical and industrial use. In this project, Prof. Roininen provides advisory support on the applicability and testing of various ML techniques.
