In the Lahti region, vocational and higher education institutions have numerous laboratories and learning environments that can be widely utilized for process development, material handling, and analytics. However, cooperation and co-development between laboratories have so far been limited compared to their potential. This has also reduced the visibility of the laboratories and their collaboration with businesses.

The goal of the PH-LABRA project is to enhance collaboration and create an operational environment that enables the laboratories of educational institutions in the Lahti region to increase and develop cooperation both among themselves and with businesses. The aim is to better support RDI activities driven by the needs of the business sector.

The project is carried out by LAB University of Applied Sciences, LUT University, the University of Helsinki, and Salpaus Further Education in collaboration with key regional stakeholders and partners.

Project goals

The project's goal is to establish an operational model and implement an environment that enables the laboratories of educational institutions in the Lahti region to:

  1. Enhance and diversify RDI activities driven by the needs of the business sector.
  2. Promote concrete collaboration between educational and research institutions and businesses.
  3. Support businesses in the development, piloting, and commercialization of products, materials, services, or production methods, as well as the adoption and utilization of new technologies.
