Below you can find the course catalogues for exchange students as well as the instructions on how to choose courses for exchange studies at LUT University. You should choose all your courses from the course catalogue that corresponds to you. You can combine courses from several study fields, as long as you can find them in your course catalogue and you meet the possible prerequisites of the course.
Course lists for the next academic year are published always around April. Until then, you can get a good idea by looking at the offer for exchange students from the current academic year.
Tips and notes about choosing courses:
- The Academic year in Finland is divided into two semesters (Autumn, Spring). Each semester is divided into two periods (Autumn: periods 1&2, Spring: periods 3&4). From completion methods you can see in which period(s) the course will take place and use that to try to balance the workload between the periods.
- Pay attention to the Completion method of the courses. Some courses are completely online, some are contact teaching on campus, and some are blended between online and on site.
- Some courses are independent studies, and they are marked to take place during the whole academic year. You can take these courses when it best suits your study plan.
- Make sure to check prerequisites of the courses (Click on the course name and scroll down to prerequisites). Sometimes there is a specific course at LUT mentioned as prerequisite. You are not expected to take the same course, but you should have equivalent knowledge from your previous studies.
- Choose between 20-35 ECTS credits per Semester for your studies at LUT University
- You can select any courses you find in the course catalogue that corresponds to you, so combining multiple study fields is possible. However, please note that your home institution needs to approve your course selection as well and they may have restrictions about what you can choose.
