LUT Business School is expanding its operations in Lahti significantly. It will launch a new bachelor’s programme in digital business in Lahti with an intake of 50–75 students in autumn 2026. The bachelor’s programme will be LUT’s first in business administration in Lahti.
“LUT Business School is set to expand significantly in Lahti. The new programme will allow us to educate business professionals from the bachelor's to the doctoral level. This is a significant development for LUT, the Lahti region, and anyone considering business studies,” says Sami Saarenketo, dean of LUT Business School.
The English-language Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Business is made possible by the City of Lahti and local businesses. The funding also enables LUT to plan a new master’s programme in business with an intake of 60 students in autumn 2029.
“A huge thank you to the City of Lahti and the region's businesses for their stellar support,” adds Juha-Matti Saksa, rector of LUT University.
Both Finnish and international applicants would be eligible for the English-language bachelor's and master’s programmes. With the expansion of LUT Business School's operations, the number of LUT students in Lahti will increase by 350.
“The initiative will bring new students, experts, and taxpayers to our city. It also provides businesses access to skilled professionals and growth opportunities. The international business school can help us enhance our profile as an appealing and interesting university city,” says Niko Kyynäräinen, mayor of the City of Lahti.

Preparing students for data-driven thinking
The Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Business will provide students with expertise in areas such as data-driven thinking and strategic understanding of artificial intelligence. The programme will collaborate especially with degree programmes in software engineering and industrial engineering and management. In the field of technology, the Lahti campus currently offers three English-language bachelor's programmes and 11 master’s programmes.
The new bachelor’s programme is an important addition to the range of studies of LUT Business School in Lahti. The school has previously only provided master’s studies in knowledge management on the Lahti campus. The selection will, however, grow already next autumn, as the new Lahti-based strategic sales master's programme starts.
